How Do I Choose the Best Fake Beard?

A couple types of fake beards are available. A more economical fake beard, for instance, will usually be made from synthetic hair. Higher quality, and more expensive, fake beards will usually be made from real hair. Choosing the color and style of a fake beard largely depends on why a person needs one. Different types of false beards can also be attached to the face in a couple of ways.

When looking for the right fake beard, you can choose from ones made from synthetic hair or real hair. Beards made from synthetic hair are usually more readily available. They can be found in costume shops and chain stores, especially during the holidays. These types of beards are usually inexpensive, but they may not look as real as those made from real hair.

A fake beard made from real hair is usually harder to find. You will usually need to purchase one on the Internet. These will often be more expensive, but they will look more realistic.

Spending the extra money on a fake beard made from real hair is mostly a personal choice. If you are truly trying to disguise yourself and you will use it often, you may want to invest in a higher quality beard. On the other hand, if you are just going to use the beard for a costume, you may be able to get away with a less expensive fake beard. Santa Claus beards, for instance, can be purchased for very little money.

The type of fake beard that you choose will usually depend on your costume or disguise. A beard used to complete a costume should match that particular costume. On the other hand, if you are choosing a beard for a disguise, you will want it to match the color of the hair on your head or face. Wearing a brown beard when you have blonde hair, for instance, will look obviously fake.

Fake beards may be attached to your face using a couple methods. Some long fake beards might be attached to the face using elastic bands. These bands may either wrap around the back of the head or loop around the ears.

Other fake beards may be attached to the face with a special type of glue or tape. This is especially true for short or small styles, like fake goatees. Beards attached with tape can usually be peeled away easily. When removing a fake beard attached with glue, however, you will usually need to wash the glue off of your face.

My dad used to have a fake beard. He was a pretty goofy guy, always playing tricks and telling jokes. Some days we would come down for breakfast and he would turn around holding a big pan of eggs and wearing this ridiculous fake beard. We always got a big laugh out of it.

I can remember one morning when his beard fell off into his bowl of cereal. He tuned it into another joke, as if a real beard had somehow fallen of his face. We were rolling on the floor with laughter.

Where can I buy a fake beard and mustache? I have always wanted to have a pair, mostly for the purposes of gags, but I have never seen them in a store. Should I go to a costume store or maybe a beauty store?

Also, If I am able to track a set down, how much should I expect to pay for a higher end set?

I used to work as a private investigator and I had a few fake beards that I kept with me in the car at all times. You would be amazed at how completely you can change your appearance by just putting on a hat, some fake glasses and a fake beard. You can follow a person all day, slip in to disguise and then follow them for another day undetected.

I always went with real hair when I was buying fake beards. I think it looks more natural and it doesn't irritate my skin like the synthetic hair did.
